Guided walks

Geri guides walks of varying length ranging in focus from Dartmoor’s stunning wild landscapes to its wealth of Bronze Age monuments and later history.

Sample Walks

  • The joys of spring

A short day for all the family, run with Challacombe Farm and including some very photogenic lambs.

  • Tin mining on Dartmoor

A short walk to explore mining remains dating from medieval times to the 20th century with Geri and Challacombe farmer Mark Owen.

  • Belstone and Oke Tors family walk

A climb to the boulder-littered Belstone Tors and along a ridge with far-reaching views, later dropping down to paddle in the River Taw.

  • Whitehorse Hill Bronze Age burial

All day walk to the recently excavated burial cist whose contents are currently displayed at the British Museum’s Stonehenge exhibition

  • Nature walks

See 2023 public nature walks here.

  • Woodland Walk from Okehampton Station

We walk to a beautiful woodland - a fine example of a ‘temperate rain forest’. Here we take time to learn about this precious habitat and to study some of its amazing biodiversity, including luxuriant mats of globally rare mosses and lichens.

If you’d like to explore an area or aspect of Dartmoor not covered by these sample walks, here are a few more of an almost limitless range of suggestions available on a private hire basis:
